For a Unique Adventure and Celebration

Here's What We Have Planned For You

We'll be sailing on the Koningsdam (one of Holland America's most popular ships) leaving the port of Vancouver, BC (Canada) on Saturday May 3rd and returning Saturday May 10th, 2025.

During the week, you'll have the option to take part in a variety of fun activities organized for our wedding guests, as well as have plenty of free time to relax or indulge in any of the entertainment and other options provided by the cruise line.

The cruise stops in 3 different ports in Alaska during the week - Juneau, Skagway and Ketchican, where you'll have the opportunity to take in the local sites or book any of the unique local experiences or excursions that might be of interest to you.

With Holland America, we also have priority access to Glacier Bay, considered an absolute "must see" highlight of the trip, where you'll have up close, breathtaking views of the glaciers and local wildlife (so be sure to bring your best camera).

During the cruise, Adam and Sonia will be married on the ship, and we have a special day of activities planned to make this a unique and heartfelt celebration.

Many people rate this particular Alaskan cruise as a "must do bucket list" type of experience, so we're especially excited to share this with the people we most love.

More Details On How to Book Your Alaska Adventure

1: Firming Up Your Attendance

When and How to RSVP

Because some of you will be traveling some distance internationally to attend (or likely require additional time to organize this event into your 2025 schedule), we are sending out word NOW to give you as much advance notice as possible.

Even though the celebration is many months away, we do need some advance time to plan and organize logistics, budgeting and other specifics related to the wedding, so we greatly appreciate if you can please RSVP no later than October 31, 2024.

Please click here and complete the attached form to let us know if you'll be attending (or not). Even if your status is a "maybe" we'd appreciate knowing by the above deadline, as it will be helpful regarding our planning.

We'll be sending additional details to those of you planning to attend, and thank you again for your consideration in RSVP'ing as soon as you can.

2: Firming Up Your Fare and Cruise Reservation

How to Book Your Fare and Room

Estimated fares for the cruise currently run $1300 to $2500 per person, including taxes (Canadian Dollars) - based on double occupancy, and may vary depending on the type of room you select, and when you place your reservation.

Fares include all accommodations and meals for the week, all entertainment, onboard workshops and activities, as well as credits you can use for additional ship services or excursions (what a deal!) There are a variety of rooms and fares available to suit any budget, so feel free to choose whatever works best for you.

To secure your room / fare, there is a deposit required at the time of booking which is fully refundable until Jan 23, 2025. To ensure you get the best selection of rooms and fares for this route, we highly recommend booking as far in advance as you can, as the best options tend to go quickly.

To book your reservation, please reach out to Vera, our travel coordinator who is handling all reservations connected to the wedding.

Vera is very experienced and has a long standing relationship booking cruises with Holland America. She can help you secure the most competitive rates available on the ship (often lower than those published on the official website) as well as help you monitor and re-book should any better fares come up closer to the cruise date.

To ensure you get the best possible fares and any additional perks you can receive as part of this group reservation, we kindly request you DO NOT book through the Holland America or other websites, but connect with Vera directly.

A few tips to help you decide on the right cabin / fare:

  • There are inside cabins available (best for those who'd rather splurge on excursions or other options), cabins with water views (portal windows) and private verandahs (more expensive for those who want the best views or a private deck).
  • Fares are based on double occupancy (if you are traveling alone, there are some single-occupancy rooms available. Be sure to ask Vera for info, and if you'd like to share a room, contact us and we'll endeavor to match you up with another guest traveling solo).
  • Cabins on the STARBOARD (right side) of the boat are reported to have the best views throughout the cruise, especially if you're booking a verandah cabin.
  • If you are more sensitive to motion, it's recommended to book a cabin in the middle of the ship (more stable).
  • We recommend you avoid booking a cabin on floors 1, 8, 10 and 11 (as this area is reported to be a bit noisy being under the main pool, close to entertainment venues, etc). If booking a verandah room, avoid those on the 4th floor if possible as they often have obstructed views.
  • When you're booking, you will be asked if you prefer "open dining" (show up at any time) or a preferred dining time. Please feel free to choose whatever dining time suits you best.
  • To see a more detailed visual tour of the various cabins, click here to view this helpful video on Youtube before contacting Vera to make your booking.

3: Final Thoughts

Our Thoughts on Wedding Gifts

As much as we appreciate the kind gesture, we strongly request no gifts! We truly have all we need, and we are more in the "downsizing phase" of our lives (than the "acquiring phase". Anybody need a gently used toaster oven or DVD collection?)

We also appreciate that for those of you making the effort to attend the event, your presence and the opportunity to spend time with you in person is the biggest gift we can ask for. If the timing or nature of this experience doesn't fit with your plans for 2025, we look forward to another opportunity to visit or celebrate with you soon!
